DC bans sale of chicken in Mandya

Mandya: Following Coronavirus and Bird Flu scare, which has necessitated preventive steps to be taken to avoid spread of the diseases, Mandya Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. M.V. Venkatesh has banned the sale and transportation of chicken and chicken meat and has also banned mass feeding and animal sacrifices at all temples in the district.

The DC has also banned preparation and serving non-vegetarian dishes at all hotels, restaurants and roadside eateries. He has ordered culling of pet birds at places where the disease is seen. 

The Deputy Commissioner Said that though Bird Flu is rarely spread among human beings, it can have an adverse effect on humans and hence as a precautionary step had banned the sale of chicken in Mandya district.
