Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra has directed Hospitals to display treatment charges list and to receive only the cost that is in accordance with the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007 (KPME Act).
He was presiding over the meeting of the District Co-ordination Committee of the Health Department at the DC Office here recently. Noting that his office has been receiving many complaints of excess charging by Private Hospitals, Dr. Rajendra said that in the absence of treatment charges list, patients are finding it hard to pay medical bills after treatment or during discharge from Hospitals.
Pointing out that he has forwarded the complaints regarding medical negligence by doctors under KPME Act, to the Karnataka Medical Council, the DC said that the consultation forms regarding patients should be in a simple language and easy to understand for the public.
Directing the officials to dispose of applications seeking registration of Private Hospitals, received through KPME online portal, before Oct.10, the DC directed the Department officials to keep a check on foetal gender testing at scanning centres in the district.
He also instructed the officials for effective implementation of Indradhanush vaccination scheme for children aged between 0 and 5 years and to bring down mortality rate.
ZP CEO K.M. Gayathri, DHO Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy, District RCH Officer Dr. M.S. Jayanth and others were present.
