Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar has asked all officers to use Kannada in all administrative procedures, publicity and advertisements.
Chairing a meeting on ‘Implementation of Kannada in Administration’ at his office here recently with members of the District Vigilance Committee, Abhiram Sankar said that the State Government has sent a circular indicating that all notices, reminders, letterheads, visiting cards, rubberstamps, e-tenders and price lists should be in Kannada.
He further said that as per Dr. Sarojini Mahishi Report, C and D Group employees contracted by Government and private organisations/ industries should be earmarked 100% for Kannadigas.
Continuing, the DC asked the Assistant Director of Department of Kannada and Culture H. Channappa at the meeting to write to the Lead Bank Manager to arrange printing of Bank challan, applications in Kannada and also to incorporate that in ATMs.
He asked shops and establishments to have signboards with 60% in Kannada. Similarly, he said that signboards at Central Government offices and on State and National Highways should have three languages including Kannada.
Committee Members S.R. Sudarshan, M.B. Vishwanath, Prabhamani, Pramod, MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha and others attended the meeting.
