Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep held a meeting on implementation of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) in the district at his office here yesterday.
DHO Dr. Basavaraj, Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust Regional Convenor Dr. H.S. Prasad, District Convenor R. Diwakar, K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Chandrashekar and Insurance Agents attended the meeting.
Briefing the meeting on the salient points of the scheme, Dr. Prasad said that RSBY was an ideal scheme for the health of construction workers, railway porters, street vendors, beedi workers, migrant workers, rag pickers and any such workers in the unorganised sector. He further said that the facility can be availed by a family of five with a BPL card. He added that every family will be provided with a smart cart which will be valid throughout the country.
Continuing, Dr. Prasad said that the scheme provides hospitalisation benefits to a maximum of Rs. 30,000 covering many ailments and added that the facility is available at about 30,000 hospitals in the country and a travelling allowance of Rs. 100 per visit will be provide to a maximum of Rs. 1,000 per year. He asked the insurance agents to create awareness among the unorganised sector workers on the benefits of the scheme.
