Debris disposal and management: Suggestions

Construction debris dumped illegally in front of a park near Charaka Government Ayurveda Post-Graduation Centre in city

Sir,

There seems to be no system in place for proper disposal and management of debris in Mysuru city. Many people including the Corporators and MCC officials do not seem to be aware regarding proper disposal of debris and other waste materials. My suggestion is as follows:

1. A Helpline should be available 24 x 7 to guide the citizens for proper disposal of debris.

2. A few tractors/trucks could be made available by Mysuru City Corporation for proper disposal of debris.

3. The concerned citizens of Mysuru could draw the attention of MCC with photos of the debris.

4. The City Corporation could fix a rate for picking up and taking the debris.

5. Amount as agreed should be paid online and receipt given for the same.

6. This will ensure the citizens do not undergo the hassle to find out a private debris disposal agent who invariably will demand unsystematic and abnormal charges.

7. There is very high chance that such debris will not be taken to the proposed recycling plant at Hanchya-Sathagalli.

I request the MCC Commissioner to resolve this problem on a war-footing as Dasara is nearing and the garbage clearance must be given top priority  anticipating tourist rush in the city centre and tourist places.
