New Delhi: In a setback to Karnataka cadre IPS Officer Roopa Moudgil in the defamation suit filed by IAS Officer Rohini Sindhuri against her, the Supreme Court on Thursday granted permission to Roopa Moudgil to withdraw her special review petition which had sought quashing of the defamation suit filed by Sindhuri against her.
The Advocates representing the two Officers told the SC Bench comprising Justices Abhay S. Oka, Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Augustine George Masih, which heard the petition, that the two warring parties have been unable to find a solution. Hence, both the Officers can go along with the hearings of the case in the Court. Following the Advocates submission, the Bench allowed petitioner Roopa Moudgil to withdraw the petition.
Senior advocate Siddarth Luthra who represented Rohini Sindhuri argued that Roopa Moudgil did not agree for settlement of the case, despite being advised in this regard.
During the hearing, the Court questioned the intention behind Roopa levelling allegations against Sindhuri in social media. Both Rohini and Roopa were present in the Court during the hearing.
It may be mentioned, the SC had ordered Roopa in Dec.2023 to remove her social media posts against Rohini Sindhuri.
