Defunct e-toilet: Rakshana Vedike stages protest

Mysuru: The members of the Mysuru Rakshana Vedike, led by its President M.S. Gururaj Shetty and Secretary Pramod Gowda, staged a symbolic protest in front of the defunct e-toilet at the junction of Devaraja Urs Road and Dewan’s Road here this morning, holding vessels (chombu) demanding immediate repair of the toilet.

Corporator Pramila Bharat, who also took part in the protest, said that the toilet, which was built for the convenience of woman working in the shops on Devaraja Urs Road and surrounding areas, is not working since the past two years.

In spite of raising this issue in the Corporation meetings several times, neither the Corporators nor the officials have taken note of this serious problem and continue to ignore it, she said and threatened to launch an agitation if the problem is not set right within a week.

Gururaj Shetty said that there were many such e-toilets in the city which were not in working condition and demanded that all of them should be set right. The members shouted slogans against the Corporation.
