Mysuru: National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Officer Dr. D.G. Raghupathi has said that the demand for milk in the country is expected to touch 200 million Metric Tonnes (MT) by 2022. He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘World Milk Day’ celebration organised by MyMUL at JSS Ayurveda College on Lalithadripura Road here yesterday.
Pointing out that at present, the country is producing 176 million MT of milk, Dr. Raghupathi said that with rising population, the demand for milk is also growing and the demand is expected to touch 200 million MT by 2022.
Stressing on the need for finding newer and cost-effective ways of milk production, he said that milk is rich in protein and is vital for the growth of children. Underlining the importance of producing quality milk, he also emphasised on the need for cost and quantity effective production.
Earlier, MyMUL staff and JSS Ayurveda College students took out a rally from the Dairy Main Gate to Mega Dairy, on the significance of cattle milk.
MyMUL Marketing Manager Phaniraj, General Manager H.R. Raghu, Purchase Manager Dr. Prakash, JSS Ayurveda College Principal Dr. Rajesh A. Udapudi, faculty Dr. Sudhakar Reddy and others were present.
