Denotification case: DKS, BSY get SC relief

Bengaluru: Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar (DKS) and State BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa (BSY) got a relief from the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday in a case related to the de-notification of land in Bengaluru.

The Supreme Court, upholding the High Court decision, dismissed a petition filed by T.J. Abraham, an activist, against the leaders. He had registered a private complaint before the SC and urged Lokayukta probe into 4.2 acre land de-notification case at Benniganahalli, Survey No. 50/2.

Abraham and one Kabbalegowda had alleged that Shivakumar had bought this land when he was the Urban Development Minister by using his official position. He had got all the records related to the land transferred to his name with the help of the Revenue Department officials, they had stated. The land was de-notified in 2010.

Later, during the tenure of Yeddyurappa on an appeal from Shivakumar, the then Chief Minister had illegally de-notified the land, Abraham had stated in his complaint.

The High Court had rejected the same plea by Abraham for a Lokayukta probe.
