Mysuru: Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru, Atul Gupta has assured full support to the Railway pensioners from the Department. He has asked them not to be anxious, as their grievances would be addressed. Chairing a meeting of Mid-term Pension Adalat at the DRM Commercial Office, here yesterday, Gupta said that those who have retired from the Railways and facing problems with their pensions could come to the pension centre and sort out their problems.
As the officers in the Pension Adalats should be able to take on the spot decisions to redress the grievances, out of 41 pensioners who attended the Adalat, 32 pensioners’ problems were solved on the spot. Since there were technical issues related to the other nine pensioners, they were assured of the problems being sorted out by the officers concerned.
The officials of State Bank of India and Pensioners Association President and the office-bearers participated in the meeting and gave suggestions.
The Pension Adalat is held every year in December. This is the first time it is being held in the middle of the year and this is benefiting a lot of pensioners, was the opinion expressed at the meeting.
Use thumb print if signatures do not match: Several pensioners expressed their helplessness, when they shared that, they face problems in the Bank as many a times their signatures do not match since they will not have a steady hand to sign.
Reacting to this, DRM Atul Gupta said that it is normal that in old age, it becomes difficult to match the signature and hence it does not tally. If there is a difference found, then instead of signing, one can use the thumb print, he suggested.
The next Pension Adalat will be held in December this year. The representations relating to issues connected with payment/disbursement of pension/family pension, can be sent well in advance for examination by the authorities concerned, said a release from S.G. Yatish, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager.
