Mysore/Mysuru: Former MLA M.K. Somashekar and KPCC Spokesperson H.A. Venkatesh met Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham and appealed him to speed up the ongoing vaccination drive in district.
The duo met the DC here yesterday and submitted him a memorandum requesting to hasten vaccination of Frontline Workers and Priority Groups. A number of Corona Warriors have not taken the vaccine till this date due to some reasons. Such persons must be identified and vaccinated without delay. Over 1.80 lakh students, teaching and non-teaching staff of all colleges in the entire district have to be jabbed immediately.
No politics
They said Assembly-wise vaccination was going in city to make available vaccine to all sections of the people. The State Government has free supplied vaccines but some politicians were using the symbols, the flags and workers of their parties and trying to take political mileage of the Government-sponsored vaccination drive.
Vaccination sites were looking like publicity offices of certain political parties. A number of thinkers and senior citizens have taken objection for giving political touch to Govt. programme. Such things must not be entertained in district, they added.
Mobile teams
They suggested to the District Administration to deploy mobile teams across the city to vaccinate people at designated spots in the areas. The citizens were facing difficulties due to non-availability of vaccine in any of the vaccination centre.
Those who were supposed to take the second dose, were not getting vaccine. Doctors have said that the second dose must be taken after 84 days from the day of first dose but many haven’t been vaccinated even after 90-95 days. This was causing anxiety for people. Vaccination by mobile teams was the only panacea to address the current situation, they noted.
