Dereliction of duty: H.D. Kote TMC Junior Engineer suspended

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lakshmikanth Reddy has ordered suspension of H.D. Kote Town Municipal Council (TMC) Junior Engineer for failing to maintaining the quality in road and drain works, thus displaying dereliction in performing his duty.

The Junior Engineer, who has been suspended, is K. Suresh. He was tasked with the Chief Minister’s Amrut Municipality Scheme works (phase 4) but had passed the bill to the contractor without checking the quality of works. The Junior Engineer was instructed to go by the procedure by the Municipal Administration Director in a letter.

When the DC inspected the quality of the works, he came to know that the Junior Engineer had mentioned 75 mm tar road and 150 mm concrete road but in reality it was 55 mm tar road and 100 mm concrete road. The DC’s order mentioned that the Junior Engineer without inspecting the quality of works had recommended payment of bill to the contractor.

The DC, under Karnataka Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1957, ordered suspension of Junior Engineer K. Suresh pending departmental enquiry.
