Development Studies Centre of UoM hosts Ambedkar Jayanti

J. Somashekar, Registrar (Evaluation), Mysore University, is seen lighting the lamp during the inauguration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebrations at Development Studies Centre of Mysore University this morning as others look on.

Mysuru: Marking 126th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Development Studies Centre of Mysore University had organised a function at its premises in Manasagangothri here this morning. Sri Jnanaprakash Swamiji of Uralingipeddhi Mutt graced the occasion.

Inaugurating the programme, J. Somashekar, Registrar (Evaluation), Mysore University, said that Ambedkar is a model for nation’s development who always fought for a  casteless society.

Speaking on the occasion, the Swamiji regretted that Universities were only manufacturing degrees and insisted that the Varsities should also focus on imbibing human values among students. He regretted that casteism rules the society which Dr. Ambedkar was dead against.

Dr. V. Shanmugam, Asst. Professor, Maharaja’s College, delivered a lecture. Centre Director B.K. Thulasimala presided. Kalyanasri Bantheji from Bengaluru was present on the occasion.
