‘Dhanur Vainika Brahma’ Award conferred on Dr. Mysore Manjunath

Mysore/Mysuru: Renowned violinist Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath was conferred with ‘Dhanur Vainika Brahma’ Award in commemoration of Violin Maestro Pitilu Mysore T. Chowdiah at a programme organised by Pitilu Mysore T. Chowdiah Samsmarana Vedike and Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, at the Sabha premises on JLB Road in city recently.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Dr. Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji presented the award to Dr. Manjunath.

Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji said, “the world respects those who develop certain traits like simplicity, humbleness and brotherhood. Despite my busy schedule, I came down to Mysuru to attend the event, as I am in awe of Manjunath, who is known for his simplicity.”

On the occasion, Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji recalled the advise of previous pontiff of Adichunchanagiri Mutt Dr. Balagangadharanatha Swamiji, to practice music during morning prayers at the residential school for the blind and differently-abled on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road.

The award ceremony was followed by violin duet by Dr. Manjunath and his son Sumanth Manjunath. The father-son duo was accompanied by Vid. K.U. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga and Vid. G. Guruprasanna  on kanjira.

Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha Secretary K.S.N. Prasad, Executive Committee Member T.R. Harish, Vice-President S.K. Lakshminarayan, Treasurer C.K. Sanjay Kumar, R. Anantharamu, Dr. M.A. Shekar, Keshav Saralaya, Nagaraj Srinivasan, Ravindra Gundurao, Dr. Padmavathi Narasimhan and others were present during the award ceremony.
