‘Dharma Ratnakara’ award conferred

Industrialist and philanthropist Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy, who was conferred with ‘Dharma Ratnakara’ award by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Mysuru, at Alwar Kalabhavan in Gokulam on Friday, is seen with Adichunchanagiri Mysuru Shakha Mutt Seer Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji, Sabha President B.S. Mysore/Mysuru: City’s noted Industrialist and philanthropist Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy, the Managing Trustee of Mangalore Ganesh Beedi Works, was conferred the prestigious ‘Dharma Ratnakara’ award by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Mysuru, at a programme organised at Alwar Kalabhavan in Gokulam here on Friday.

Speaking after conferring the award, Adichunchanagiri Mysuru Shakha Mutt Seer Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji said that Dr. Jagannath Shenoy had voluntarily engaged in social activities since his younger days and is working relentlessly for the cause of social good.

Noting that there are several personalities just like Shenoy in service of the society, he said that this award must be a driving force for everyone to get involved in working for society’s welfare.

The Swamiji further said that building a healthy society would become much easier if philanthropists like Dr. Shenoy come forward for serving the society.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Jagannath Shenoy said he has great love for arts.

Observing that the youth participation is key for the growth of art, literature and music, he said, as such, young artistes have been given prominence in this programme. He also stressed on the need for educating the youth on our past art and culture and what should be done in the future.

Stating that everyone has to do religious work in keeping with the phrase ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha…,’ he said that a good mind is vital for doing a good work. The blessings of parents and Gurus is essential for taking forward our rich legacy of heritage and culture, he added.

Sugama Sangeetha Concert

Later, twin sisters Nisarga and Vismaya presented a Sugama Sangeetha Concert as part of the Puduvattu programme instituted by Dr. Shenoy in memory of his parents Dr. Shenoy M. Govinda Rao and D. Ramabai.
