Mysuru: Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (DRDP) has come forward to assist Kodagu Model School run by Sri Kavery Kodava Association, Mysuru East, under its development projects.
DRDP District Director Vijayakumar Naganal handed over a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh to School President K.K. Aiyappa at a function held at the school premises in Vidyashankar Layout, Sathagalli here this morning,
Speaking on the occasion, Vijayakumar said that DRDP was engaged in identifying poor people in rural areas to assist and empower them to come to mainstream of society. He added that there were 18,000 Self Help Groups in the district who could be utilised effectively.
Speaking to SOM, Aiyappa said that the school is catering to a good number of rural students from backward class. The school is offering facilities from Play Home to 8th standard. He added that the fees was moderate and affordable for the poor in keeping with the service motto of the promoters of the School — Sri Kavery Kodava Association, Mysuru East.
School Education Council Chairperson C.K. Seethamma, Head Mistress Anitha Mary, Association Jt. Secretary Padma Bopaiah, Building Committee Chairman P. Jayakumar, Association Treasurer K.D. Ponnappa and others were present.
