Government’s scheme to popularise cashless transaction and online payments focussed specially on farmers; 50 stalls set up
As part of nationwide campaign ‘Digi-Dhan Abhiyan’ to increase awareness about digital payments, the District Administration had organised a day-long Digi-Dhan exhibition at J.K. Grounds here this morning.
The exhibition was to spread digital financial literacy among the public and was organised as part of Union Government’s move to conduct such exhibitions in all major cities of the country to popularise digital transactions. The expo was inaugurated by DC D. Randeep.
The exhibition has over 50 stalls accommodating e-Wallet and m-Wallet services, Agricultural Seed Suppliers, UID, Public Distribution System, hand-looms and others. The stalls have been set up by various banks, corporates and Karnataka State-Level Bankers Committee (KSLBC).
The event witnessed participation from sectors such as banking, agriculture, telecom, mobile wallet operators, transport, merchants associations, service operators, fair price shop owners, etc. Banks like State Bank of Mysore, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, ICICI Bank, Vijaya Bank, Mysore Chamarajanagar Districts Co-operative Bank, State Bank of India, Department of e-Governance, Software Technology Park and Corporates like Paytm IOC and MYMUL, Telecom companies like Airtel, Jio BSNL are displaying ways of doing cashless transactions through debit and credit cards using swiping machines and mobile phones.
Visitors were offered help for opening bank accounts, linking mobile number to accounts, Aadhaar enrolment, Aadhaar updates, seeding Aadhaar with bank account number, etc.
Mysuru Lead Bank Manager K.N. Shivalingaiah, Joint Director of District Industries Centre Ramakrishna, Field General Manager of Syndicate Bank Atul Kumar, Additional DC T. Venkatesh, Assistant Commissioner C.L. Ananda and Chief Manager of KSLBC Kumar Gowda were present.
A stage programme has been organised by Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs that was scheduled to begin at 2.30 pm today and was scheduled to be attended by Union Ministers D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Arjun Ram Meghwal.
