Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners: Will the Provident Fund Commissioner clarify?

File Photo

Sir,

This is with reference to the news report in Star of Mysore dated Dec.2 regarding extension of time till Dec. 31, 2018 for submission of Digital Life Certificate (DLC). In this regard, on behalf of many pensioners like me I wish the Regional PF Commissioner to please clarify the following:

1. Whether the earlier system of Paper Life Certificate, certified by the Bank Manager and submitted to the Bank which was forwarding the same to EPFO Office is totally discarded OR it is also valid in addition to Digital Life Certificate?

I wish to mention here that when I spoke to the PF Commissioner on Ph: 2599240 in the beginning of November, he conveyed that the earlier paper system is still valid and DLC is an additional facility.

2. After generating the DLC at the Bank or at the Common Service Centre (CSC), is any further action required by the pensioner to visit the EPFO to submit the copy of Jeevan Pramaan? This aspect is not made clear either in the news report or by the CSC or by the Bank. If a pensioner gets an SMS message confirming linking of DLC with ppo number, soon after DLC is generated, is it the end of the task?

If the pensioner has to personally visit the EPFO to submit a copy of DLC, the benefit of getting it done at the nearby CSC or the Bank is totally negated for very senior citizens who may not have anyone to help to visit EPFO.

I request for an early clarification so that thousands of pensioners are saved from the trouble of visiting EPFO, crowding the Office, having to spend a lot of time and getting exhausted in the process.
