Mysuru: Observing that digitalisation of cinemas has greatly helped them in reaching out to more number of people, Theatre and Film Director Jayatirtha has said that the theatre was a medium of sending positive messages to the society.
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Ranga-Chitraranga’ seminar as part of Rashtriya Ranga Utsava organised by the city’s theatre group Abhiyenthararu (A theatre for Engineers) at Maneyangala, Kalamandira here this morning.
Pointing out that he was attracted to cinemas after watching movies at an international film fest organised by a corporate group years ago, Jayatirtha said he realised that cinema was one of the influential mediums to reach out to the people.
Senior theatre personality Rameshwari Varma spoke on the topic ‘Theatre and Cinema in practical and artificial terms’, while Theatre and Film Director Raghu Shivamogga presented papers.
Actor Mandya Ramesh, senior theatre personality Rajashekara Kadamba, actor Pavan Tej, Abhiyenthararu theatre group President H.S. Suresh Babu and others were present.
The week-long theatre fest, which commenced on Jan. 30, concludes today (Feb.4).
