Bengaluru: Gearing up for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress leadership has appointed Gandhinagar (Bengaluru) MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao as the President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). He will succeed Dr. G. Parameshwara, who has been inducted into the JD(S)-Congress Coalition Ministry as Deputy Chief Minister.
Parameshwara held the KPCC President’s post for eight years and before his latest appointment, Dinesh was the KPCC Working President.
Bhalki MLA Eshwar Khandre has been appointed as the KPCC Working President while Chikkodi MLA Ganesh Hukkeri has been appointed as the Congress party Chief Whip in the Assembly.
Dinesh Gundu Rao was the frontrunner for the KPCC top post. Rao, who has made a mark in the party with his organisational skills and clean image, has also endeared himself to the party high command with his working style.
