Mysuru; A series of Police complaints have been filed at various Police Stations in city by genuine voters whose names have been either deleted from the voters’ list or have been declared dead in the records though they are alive.
The complaints have been filed by voters of Krishnaraja Constituency at K.R. Police Station, Vidyaranyapuram Police Station and Kuvempunagar Police Station.
The plaints name Revenue Officers, Election Tahsildar and other officials, who were involved in preparing the voters’ list. Even Krishnaraja MLA M.K. Somashekar’s name figures in the complaint.
Over eight complaints have been filed and the complainants, under the leadership of former Minister S.A. Ramdas, have urged the Police to take action against those officials and elected representatives. They alleged that their names have been intentionally left out of the voters list to benefit a particular political party.
It may be recalled here that on Nov.4, Ramdas had sought a Judicial probe into what he described as ‘voters list capturing or voters list rigging.’
He alleged that the State Government was misusing its powers to get officials to delete the names of voters from the voters list by citing that they are either dead or have relocated so as to facilitate the victory of the Congress in the ensuing 2018 Assembly election.
Ramdas alleged the hand of K.R. MLA M.K. Somashekar of the Congress in the irregularities in K.R. Constituency list. He had alleged that 4,794 voters in K.R., 5,642 voters in Chamaraja, 3,416 voters in N.R. and 11,212 voters in Chamundeshwari constituency were deleted from the voters list. He had said that he will initiate a legal battle against the rigging from Nov. 7.
