Mysore/Mysuru: A panel discussion on ‘Potential and dangers of nuclear energy’ will take place at 5 pm tomorrow (Aug. 6), at the Wadiyar Centre for Architecture, Mysuru.
Organised by the Indian Heritage Cities Network Foundation (IHCNF) to commemorate the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the event will feature Dr. N. Ramamoorthy (Ex-BARC) speaking on the ‘Potential of nuclear energy’ and Maj. Gen. (retd) S.G. Vombatkere discussing the ‘dangers of nuclear energy.’ The session will be moderated by Ravi Joshi (Ex-RAW, Govt. of India).
The programme includes an interactive discussion, allowing the audience to engage with the panellists and screenings of two short documentaries (18 minutes total) and a longer documentary, The Buddha Weeps in Jadugoda (57 minutes), focusing on uranium mining in Jadugoda, Jharkhand.
Additionally, to mark Nagasaki Day on Aug. 9, a documentary and an animated film (Japanese, with English subtitles) will be shown at the Heritage House, Saraswathipuram. For details, contact Mob: 99729-62868.
