Mysuru: The District Administration will celebrate Devara Dasimayya Jayanti in city on Apr. 1.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting on the Jayanti celebration of saints at the DC office here recently, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shivegowda said the stage programme will take place at Kalamandira at 11am on Apr.1. Prior to the stage programme, a grand procession of Devara Dasimayya will be taken out from Kote Anjanaya Swamy Temple at the Palace North Gate to Kalamandira at 9.30 am.
Continuing, Shivegowda said the District Administration will celebrate Mahaveer Jayanti on Mar. 29 in a meaningful manner.
Calling upon the two sects of the Jain Community to come together in celebrating Mahaveer Jayanti, he said the District Administration will draw plans for the celebration after consulting the two sects.
The AC further said that the District Administration, taking into account the contribution of Dalit Vachanakaras such as Madara Channaiah, Dohara Kakkaiah, Samagara Haralaiah and Urilinga Peddi, will also celebrate Dalit Vachanakara Jayanti at 11am on Mar. 22 at the mini-theatre in Kalamandira.
Highlighting the contribution of Saints and seers for the welfare of the society, he appealed the people to participate in all Jayantis in large numbers. Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director H. Channappa, Kannada Sahitya Parishat District President Y.D. Rajanna, activists Thayur Vittalamurthy and other were present.
