Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the Congress party’s strategy to fight the COVID-19 crisis, the Mysuru District Congress, based on the directions of AICC, has planned to set up a Control Room and operate helplines.
A preliminary meeting was held at the Congress Office near the City Railway station yesterday.
Addressing the meeting, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar said that following instructions from AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, the party is deliberating extensively on the structure of the Control Room and the Helpline. He pointed out that the Helpline will also operate as a collating and co-ordination centre to ensure that assistance is provided to patients.
Noting that the Helpline to be set up should also collect data in a standardised form, he said that Mysuru DCC will reach out to as many doctors as possible who are willing to provide guidance and advice on a pro-bono basis and added that efforts will be made to include a Psychiatrist or a Counsellor to counsel the public and patients. The Control Room will co-ordinate with relief activities undertaken by Congress workers in city and rural levels, he added.
ZP member Manjunathan, KPCC Human Rights-RTI Cell Secretary Kavitha Kale, Mysuru DCC office-bearers Prof. Shivakumar, Hedathale Manjunath, Shivaprasad, Dr. Bharath and others were present.
