Distribution of Ashraya houses: Officials will be held responsible for irregularities: MLA Nagendra

Mysore/Mysuru: “Officials should take steps to prevent irregularities in distribution of Ashraya houses. CCTVs should be installed compulsorily and in case any irregularities occur, officials will be held responsible for it,” warned MLA L. Nagendra.

Addressing the Chamaraja Constituency Ashraya Committee Meeting at the MCC Old Council Hall on Monday, Nagendra said that there were complaints of irregularities and officials were extorting money from the poor people for distributing Ashraya houses. He asked the officials to work efficiently without giving room to irregularities.

“Among those who were allotted houses, a few of them have sold the houses and are now applying for new houses. Middlemen, who take money from poor people to get a house allotted were visiting the office frequently, which has to be stopped,” Nagendra said.

Pointing out that 23 acre land in Survey No. 65 at Hanchya village has been transferred for Chamaraja Constituency Ashraya Housing Project, he said that a decision would be taken whether to form sites after launching the cleaning works or construct houses and distribute the same.

He further said that the estimate for UGD works at Srirampura Ashraya Layout and providing basic facilities for 425 houses at Mandakalli Layout has been prepared. Out of 22 acre land in Survey No. 7 at Bandipalya Layout, steps has to be taken for the sanction of 17 acre land to construct houses for those who do not have a house, he added.

MCC Commissioner G. Laksh mikantha Reddy, Additional Commissioner M.J. Roopa, Zonal Commissioner (Administration) M.K. Savitha and members of Chamaraja Constituency Ashraya Committee were present.
