Two child representatives to discuss problems faced by children with CM
Mysore/Mysuru: The Rural Literacy and Health Programme (RLHP), Mysuru, in association with UNICEF and Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, had jointly organised ‘Children Rights Parliament 22’ District-level Child Consultation Workshop in city recently.
Speaking on the occasion, RLHP Director Saraswathi said that there is a need to analyse children’s lifestyle, health, projection, education, development and involvement in daily activities.
“It is important to bring it to the notice of the State Government. There are several children who are facing a lot of problems to get assistance over things they need and fail to obtain basic needs. However, discussing these issues with the State Government will help in taking necessary steps to protect children’s rights, protect them and provide them opportunities to excel and explore things. There is a need for us to discuss all these issues in the next State-level Children Rights Parliament,” she said and added that this workshop is organised as a preliminary preparation for State-level Parliament.
In all, 40 children from various taluks of the district took part in the workshop. Children selected 2 representatives among them to represent the district at State-level workshop which will be held at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru and discuss various problems faced by children in front of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Ministers of various Departments.
District Planning Deputy Coordinator D. Udayakumar, Child Development Programme Officer (CDPO) Madhusudhan, Police Inspector J. Shekar, Assistant Child Welfare Police Officer G.S. Prasanna Kumar, RLHP Secretary Prof. V.K. Jose, children representative Sushmitha and members of voluntary organisations were present.
