District Minister asks Police to provide security for ASHA workers during survey

Mysore/Mysuru: As ASHA workers are expected to face some problems during the ongoing  COVID door-to-door survey, District Minister S.T. Somashekar has directed the concerned Police officials to provide security to ASHA workers during their work.

Speaking to presspersons at Heggadanahalli in Nanjangud taluk on Sunday, Somashekar lauded the service of ASHA workers who have been involved in COVID duties. Pointing out that ASHA workers may face some problems during the COVID door- to-door survey of households, he said the Police have been directed to provide them security. Asserting that the survey is expected to be completed in a couple of days, he observed that shifting asymptomatic patients found during the survey to COVID Care Centres will help in bringing down caseload in the district.

Referring to online protest by ASHA workers seeking payment of wage dues, Somashekar said that funds for wages has been released and there will be no problems in wage payment.

The entire country is complimenting the services of ASHA workers who are performing COVID duties risking their own health, he added.
