Mysuru: Social Welfare and Mysuru District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa distributed Driver’s Licences (DLs) to women drivers of ‘Swachha Vahini,’ belonging to Self Help Groups and working in various Gram Panchayats at a function held at Zilla Panchayat auditorium, here recently.
The women have been given the in-charge of transporting the solid wastes in their respective jurisdictions in various villages of Mysuru district.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahadevappa said that a total of 176 women had been trained to drive ‘Swachha Vahinis’ and advised the women not to get disheartened in case of being belittled by people but to continue their work.
The Minister instructed the officials to organise skill development programme in rural areas to empower the women.
He also distributed cheques to the family members of deceased GP employees who had succumbed to Covid-19 and urged them not to splurge the money but to make use of it judiciously for the welfare of their families.
ZP CEO K.M. Gayathri, Deputy Secretary Savitha, Chief Planning Officer Prabhuswamy and others were present.
