Mysuru: District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. B. Basavaraju has suspended a doctor from Shantinagar Primary Health Centre (PHC) for taking money to treat patients.
Dr. Prakash Babu, who was serving as a part-time doctor at the health centre, used to take money to treat patients at Shantinagar PHC, following which several patients had complained to the DHO.
The doctor used to come to the PHC between 4 pm and 8 pm and according to complainants, he used to charge Rs. 60 per patient while his mandate was to provide free treatment.
The DHO’s action came after a sting operation carried out by a TV channel.
