Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. K.S. Sadanand, Medical Superintendent of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research,  KRS Road in the city, has regretted that  the life span of doctors, who are working under stress, is getting decreased by 5 to 10 years as against that of common man.

He was speaking after accepting felicitations on the eve of Doctors Day being celebrated across the country, to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s legendary Doctor Dr. B.C.Roy, at Jayadeva Hospital, on Monday.

“Doctors work for more than 12 hours a day. Many doctors have stress-related health issues like Blood Pressure (BP) and Diabetes. Some doctors don’t monitor their own health regularly till they experience  health issues. There is no time for doctor’s personal life. So, the doctors must first focus on their health and find time to engage themselves in yoga and other physical activities apart from having timely food. Every doctor tries his best to better the condition of his patients and even patients have expectations from their doctors. But if a patient fails to respond to the treatment and dies, it is not proper for the relatives of the patients to assault doctors or drag them to Court. Patients must understand the limitations of doctors and cooperate. There should be cordial relations between doctors and patients,” he concluded.

Dr. Dinesh, Dr. Harsha Basappa, Dr. Rajith, Dr. Srinidhi Heggade, Dr. Jayaprakash, Dr. Kumar, Dr. Srimant, Dr. Ashwini, Dr. Snehal, Dr. Raghavendra, Senior Nursing Officer Harishkumar, Nursing Superintendent Yogalakshmi, Yogananda and Ramesh were present.
