Mysore Open Forum has organised the release of the documentary on Basavanna by Sri Dr. Sharath Chandra Swamiji of Shri Kuntur Mutt, Mysuru, tomorrow (Sept. 22) at Kalpa Kshetra Auditorium, #581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, at 10.30 am. K.B. Ganapathy, Founder-Editor of Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra, will preside.
Kalpa Heritage Trust has produced this documentary, the 8th in the series of documentaries produced by the Trust. Documentaries on Samaveda Sangita (5 parts), Sangita Pitamaha Purandara Dasa and Sangita Kalanidhi Mysore Vasudevacharya are the earlier productions and they have been recipients of awards. To produce the documentary on Basavanna, it was decided to film it entirely at Basavana Bagewadi, Basava Kalyana and Kudala Sangama and draw the story of Basavanna from the many resource persons there.
Sri M.N. Prasiddhalinga Swamiji of Basavana Bagewadi was helpful in introducing resource persons at all the sites, Sahiti L.R. Golasangi, Veeresha Kuntoji, Mahantesha Adigonda and Dr. Mahantesha Madikeshvara were the resource persons at Bagewadi and Dr. K.C. Hennabasappa at Jamakhandi, Sri Basavalinga Pattadevaru of Hiremetha Samsthana at Bhalki, Vijayakumara Kotur at Kudala Sangama, Sunil at Basava Kalyana were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in producing the documentary.
