Domestic help’s house burgled; gold worth Rs. 1.44 lakh stolen

Mysore/Mysuru: A theft case has been registered at Vijayanagar Police Station after gold ornaments worth about Rs. 1.44 lakh were stolen from a house in Chamundeshwari Nagar.

The complaint was filed on Mar. 9 by 27-year-old Saraswathi, wife of Siddappaji and a resident of Chamundeshwari Nagar behind Belawadi Church. She lives with her two children and works as a domestic help.

Originally from Hiribeguru village in Chamarajanagar district, Saraswathi married Siddappaji about six to seven years ago and came to Mysuru. However, she has been living separately now with her children after her husband left.

On Mar. 8, Saraswathi left her house at around 6.45 am for work after asking her elder son to lock the door. When she returned home at about 9 am, she found her children playing outside the house.

On entering the house, she discovered that gold ornaments kept on top of the refrigerator, a pair of gold earrings weighing 4 grams and a gold chain weighing 8 grams, were missing.

Her elder son reportedly told her that an unknown ‘budbudke’ man had entered the house while they were playing outside and left after some time. Saraswathi suspected that the intruder might have stolen the ornaments during that period.

Based on the complaint, Vijayanagar Police have registered a case and are investigating to trace the culprit and recover the stolen jewellery.
