Civic Body warns citizens
Mysuru: Have you provided connection for water from roof of your house to storm water drain? Then, better you disconnect it within 15 days or else be ready to pay a fine of Rs. 2,000.
This warning has been issued by Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde in the wake of rain water entering storm water drain resulting in chocking of manholes especially during rains.
Reason for this had been giving connection from the roof to the storm water drain. As a result, rain water gets mixed with sewage water, comes out of the manhole and enters houses in low-lying areas.
He said it would not be possible for the MCC workers to take up repair works till the water level receded. Ultimately, it would cause inconvenience to the general public. In view of this, the Corporation wants all those who have such water connections to disconnect it within 15 days or else a fine of Rs.2,000 would be levied upon them. Besides, those who were building new houses must take note of this, he warned.
