Dr. Ambedkar’s Statue to be unveiled at Gangothri on Nov. 19

Mysuru: The bronze statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar will be unveiled at Manasagangothri on Nov. 19.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Crawford Hall here this morning, University of Mysore (UoM) In-charge VC Prof. Dayanand Mane said that the statue will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah in front of University Library at 11 am while District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate Devaraj Urs Bhavan in the campus.

He said that the cost of the 9.5 ft tall bronze statue was about Rs. 15 lakh which has been collected through donations.

The statue is made by Venkatachala of Hyderabad. Rs. 17 lakh has been spent for the pedestal and grills which was funded by the UoM, he added. He said that a gold coating would be done to the statue after six months.

Prof. Mane said that the Devaraj Urs Bhavan has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh behind B.N. Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences in the University premises.

He said that a stage programme will be held later at Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Hall in Senate Bhavan.
