Mysuru: City’s renowned Neurosurgeon Dr. M.S. Bhaskar will present a Hindustani Classical Music at Veene Seshanna Bhavana of Ganabharathi at 6 pm on Aug.24. He will be accompanied by Ramesh Dhannur on tabla and Deepak Nagannavar on harmonium. The event is organised by Gayana Sabha, Mysuru.
Profile: The multi-talented Dr. Bhaskar hails from T. Narasipur where he was exposed to classical music from a very early age. His keen interest in music evolved into an obsession while he was studying medicine and developed an irresistible passion to undergo training in singing.
Initially, Vidwan S. Bhimarao imparted lessons in Karnatak music for a couple of years. This laid a strong foundation in young Dr. Bhaskar to develop a resonant voice and flawless singing.
Further, he came in contact with late Pt. Ramarao Naik, a stalwart of Agra Gharana. The maestro inculcated into him the intricate nuances of Hindustani music and particularly those of Agra Gharana. Though the medical career was very demanding, his unswerving devotion and perseverance towards music made him practice regularly. After the demise of his Guruji, the doctor continued his training from late Lalitha Ramanujam, a senior disciple of Pt. Ramarao Naik.
Presently, he is in advanced training from yet another maestro Pt. Indudhar Nirody of Mysuru. Known for his soulful rendering of different genres of Hindustani music, Dr. Bhaskar has enthralled music-lovers at reputed platforms.
In addition to being a delightful maestro himself, he is very active in promoting Hindustani music by organising music concerts, lecture-demonstrations, workshops and many such similar activities. He is a close associate and the guiding hand of Music Sabhas like Raga Vaibhava Music Trust and Swarasankula Sangeetha Sabha in Mysuru.
