Mysuru: Samit Dravid, son of former international cricketer and head coach of Indian Men’s team Rahul Dravid, came to the rescue of KSCA Colts after the team lost two early wickets on the first day of the ongoing Dr. (Capt.) K. Thimmappiah Memorial Trophy four-day match against Odisha Cricket Association at JSS SJCE Cricket Ground at Manasagangothri here this morning.
Samit, who has been drafted to India U-19 team to take on visiting Australian U-19 team, was batting on 91 not out with KSCA Colts putting on 196 for the loss of three wickets in 50 overs, when we went to the Press.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first, KSCA Colts suffered an early loss with opener R.V. Rohit (1) given out LBW to Suryakant Prathan in the 8th over. Later, opener Harshil and Karthikeya put on a 45 run partnership for the second wicket before Harshil (40) was bowled by Sunil Roul.
Samit, who walked in at No. 4, added 32 runs for the third wicket with Karthikeya (27), who got out in the 23rd over when the score stood at 98.
Later, Samit (91 not out) and P. Dhruv (36 not out) steadied the innings putting on an unbeaten 101-run partnership in 177 balls for the fourth wicket.
In other ongoing match at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium in Manasagangothri, Baroda Cricket Association had posted 136/5 in 51.1 overs against Dr. D.Y. Patil Cricket Academy.
