Mysuru: The University of Mysore (UoM), under its DST-PURSE programme, has organised a special lecture by Dr. Dee Scadden of University of Cambridge on the topic ‘Localisation of RNA editing enzymes to stress granules in mammalian cells and their role in stress pathways’ on Mar.26 at 11.30 am at the Department of Studies in Microbiology, University of Mysore, Manasagangothri in city.
Dr. Scadden will be sharing her work on the important role of RNA in stress responses in mammalian cells in the DST-PURSE special lecture series.

Dr. Dee Scadden is currently at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge.
Dr. Scadden has a B.Sc (Hons) in Biochemistry from University of Otago, New Zealand. She has worked for her Ph.D thesis on the topic “Studies in RNA Splicing and Degradation” under the guidance of Prof. Chris Smith in Cambridge University. She is also the recipient of the prestigious Wellcome Trust Research Career Development Fellowship. She has published her research findings in high impact factor journals including Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Nucleic Acids Research, Molecular Cell and RNA. Presently, she is working on elucidating the function of hyper-edited inosine-containing dsRNA in mammalian cells.
Dr. Dee has received the Teaching Excellence Award by the Biochemical Society for excellent teaching and inspiring students and colleagues to excel. The award recognises her work on developing a series of e-learning resources to support various courses in Biochemistry and related subjects. She has taken time from her research work to focus on teaching and on leading digital teaching and learning projects.
