Mysuru: IPS Officer and the city’s Police Training School Principal Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti was conferred this year’s “Kadali Shri” award at a programme organised by Kadali Mahila Vedike at Sri Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises here yesterday.
Speaking after conferring the award, Akhila Bharatha Sharana Sahitya Parishat President Apparao Akkode said that corruption can be rooted out if women folk read and understand the messages of women vachana scholars of the twelfth century.
Quoting Vachana Scholar Aydakki Lakkamma, he said that the writings of 12th century vachana scholars had many messages on global welfare, work ethics, resolution of problems, self-confidence etc.
Stating that Dr. Dharanidevi has an impeccable record as a Police Officer, Akkode said that the senior woman Police Officer very much deserved the award.
The winners of various contests organised by the Vedike were distributed prizes on the occasion. Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion.
Davanagere University former Vice-Chancellor Dr. Indumathi, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Dr.T.C. Poornima, Sharana Sahitya Parishat Mysuru Unit President G.R. Parameshwarappa, Kadali Mahila Vedike office-bearers Jaya Gowda, Geetha Eshwar and others were present.
