Dr. G. Parameshwara quits as Home Minister

Bengaluru: Following directions from Congress High Command to continue as KPCC President, Dr. G. Parameshwara quit as Home Minister today. He announced his resignation at a press meet at Vikasa Soudha this morning.

Maintaining that he had quit as Home Minister as a loyal Congress worker, in keeping with the High Command directive, he said that he would focus on further strengthening the party with the Assembly polls less than a year away.

Expressing satisfaction about his one-year-seven- month stint as Home Minister, Dr. Parameshwara said that the High command has assigned tasks to senior leaders in equal proportion.

Asserting that the Congress would go for the 2018 polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, the KPCC President, however, refused to answer a question on who would be the next CM if the Congress was again voted to power. Dr. Parameshwara handed over his resignation letter to the CM at the latter’s official residence ‘Kaveri’ here this after noon.
