Dr. Kokkalera S. Chengappa passes away

Bengaluru, Nov.5- Dr. Kokkalera S. Chengappa (91), an Orthopaedic Surgeon and a retired Accident and Emergency Specialist at Booth Hall Children’s Hospital at Manchester in the United Kingdom (UK), passed away on June 19 in Bengaluru following heart attack.

He leaves behind his wife, two sons, daughter-in-law, grandson and a host of relatives and friends.

Dr. K.S. Chengappa graduated from Madras Medical College in 1953 and served as a lecturer in Anatomy at Madras Medical College initially before returning to Madikeri to serve his community. He left for England in 1956 for further studies.

He was trained in orthopaedics and surgery at Bolton General and Salford Royal Hospitals during 1960s, after which he was appointed at Ancoats Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital and later Booth Hall Children’s Hospital as an accident and Emergency Specialist.

He retired in 1994 and settled down with his family in West Wimbeldon, London and finally returned to his hometown in 2016.
