Dr. Mewa Singh awarded Sunder Lal Hora Medal

Mysuru: City’s Distinguished Professor Dr. Mewa Singh has been awarded the prestigious Sunder Lal Hora Medal by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi.  

INSA instituted this medal in honour of Dr. Sunder Lal Hora, Director of Zoological Survey of India, known for his Satpura Hypothesis in Ecology.  The medal, instituted in 1955, is given once in three years to a scientist for his/her outstanding contributions in the area of animal sciences.

Dr. Mewa Singh, who is internationally recognized in the area of animal behaviour, ecology and wildlife conservation, has worked in the forests of Himalayas, Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats and Nicobar Islands.  He is a Fellow of all the three Science Academies of India.  

Presently he is a Distinguished Professor (for life) at the University of Mysore and a Jagdish Chandra Bose National Fellow of the Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India, New Delhi.
