Mysuru: Marking the 91st birth anniversary of Kannada matinee idol late Dr. Rajkumar, programmes were held at various places in city yesterday.
Under the aegis of District Administration, Mysuru City Corporation and Department of Information and Public Relations, the statue of Rajkumar at the Rajkumar Park near Chamaraja Circle was garlanded by DC Abhiram G. Sankar followed by ZP CEO K. Jyothi, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna, Additional SP P.V. Sneha and Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath.
Jaya Karunada Vedike District President Krishnamurthy, Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayana Gowda, members Ravi Shastri, Subramanya Tantri, former Corporator N. Dhruvaraj and Parvathamma Rajkumar’s brother S.A. Srinivas too garlanded the statue.
At Dasara Expo Grounds: Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman Abdul Aziz (Abdullah) and Manager Redappa garlanded the bust of Dr.Raj at the entrance of Dasara Expo Grounds.
At KR Circle: Members of Dr. Rajkumar Sena Samithi showered flower petals on a portrait of Raj kept near KR Circle along with S.A. Srinivas.
Vegetarian food was served to over 200 people at the Circle. Samithi President N. Mahadevaswamy, Mysuru Kannada Vedike President Balakrishna and others were present.
The bust of Dr. Raj on Chamaraja Double Road was also garlanded by fans of the matinee idol. Many autorickshaws were seen plying on roads playing popular numbers of Raj’s films.
