Mysore/Mysuru: Samata Adhyayana Kendra, Mysuru, will be conferring Dr. Vijaya Dabbe Literary Award-2023 on senior researcher and writer B.M. Rohini at a function to be held tomorrow at Mini Theatre, Kalamandira premises at 10 am.
Rohini has been chosen for the award for her Kannada book ‘Veshyavatikeya Kathe Vyathe’ published in 2022 by Mangalore’s Akruthi Ashaya Publications.
In all, 46 women writers had sent their books to the Samata Kendra on Review and Research Works published during 2019-2022 by women publishers.
A selection committee comprising Dr. M. Usha, Dr. Selvakumari and Dr. R. Sunanda-mma considered the subject, coverage and insights of the books and selected Rohini’s work.
The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and citation. Rohini, who is 79 years old, is still active in studies, research, organisation and interactions.
On the occasion, prizes will be distributed to winners of poetry and story-writing competitions. Samata Adhyayana Kendra Immediate Past President M.N. Sumana will deliver keynote address. Senior researcher & writer Dr. T.N. Nagaratna and writer Dr. N. Gayatri will be the chief guests. Kendra President Dr. Sabiha Bhoomigowda will preside.
