Mysore/Mysuru: A truck owner has lodged a complaint against his driver for stealing truck wheels and other spare parts near Bandipalya on Nanjangud Road in city.
The truck owner, who has lodged the complaint is 39-year-old S. Mannadhan, a rice merchant and resident of Shankaragiri taluk in Salem district of Tamil Nadu. The accused driver is 27-year-old Ashok alias Yelumalai. Mannadhan has accused driver Ashok of stealing his Ashok Leyland truck (TN-52-J-4398) wheels and spare parts and has lodged a complaint with Mysuru South Police.
In his complaint, Mannadhan has stated that Ashok, who met him on July 18 sought a driver’s job following which he (Mannadhan) gave him an opportunity.
Continuing, Mannadhan has stated that he used to give a call to Ashok daily and enquire about the place he is in. But on July 6, Mannadhan received a call from Mysuru Lorry Association and the caller informed him that his truck was parked near Bandipalya with all its wheels missing.
Mannadhan immediately called Ashok and enquired to which the latter told him that the truck was parked near Bandipalya in Mysuru and no one had hired the truck since four to five days. But when Mannadhan made a video call and asked Ashok to show the truck, he (Ashok) immediately switched off the phone and even after calling him many times; he was unable to connect with Ashok.
Mannadhan came to Mysuru and saw the truck parked near Bandipalya Ring Road with all its 12 wheels, battery, tarpaulin cover, ropes and other items, all worth about Rs. 4.89 lakh stolen. The accused had placed big stones below the truck chassis and had removed all the wheels.
Mysuru South Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
