Drought: BJP leaders to tour State from May 18

BJP State President B.S. Yeddyurappa, Union Minister Nirmala Seetharaman, MP Shobha Karandlaje, former Minister S.A. Ramdas, leaders B.P. Manjunath, Kautilya Raghu and others seen after the valedictory of the two-day BJP Executive meet held at Rajendra Kalamandir in city yesterday.

Mysuru: Curtains were drawn on the two-day State BJP Executive Meet at Rajendra Kalamandir here yesterday, with the meet passing two resolutions — one to undertake a drought study tour from May 18 and the other to sensitise the people on various schemes and initiatives launched by the NDA Government at the Centre headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Although the 2-day meet was expected to end the rift in the party and boost the morale of partymen ahead of the 2018 Assembly Polls, the BJP wrapped up the meet focussing on party organisation, highlighting the failures of the State Congress Government and taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programmes to the doorstep of the people.

Many at the meeting had hoped that both Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa would bury their differences and take control of the party in line with the Central leadership’s advice. But the ego battle between the two leaders continued to haunt the party, when the party in-charge of Karnataka P. Muralidhar Rao succeeded in reportedly bringing the two-leaders together at a late night meeting on Saturday at an undisclosed location.

Following Saturday’s late night meeting, both Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa ensured that the differences between the two which was visible on Saturday did not repeat for the second day.

Eshwarappa who read out the resolution on the drought situation, alleged that the State Government had completely failed in drought relief works.

Eshwarappa stressed on the need for BJP workers to educate the public on the Congress Government’s failures and achievements of Prime Minister Modi.

Eshwarappa in his address, initially mentioned the name of Yeddyurappa. Former Ministers Govind Karjol and C.H. Vijayashankar endorsed the  drought resolution read out by Eshwarappa. Later addressing the meeting, B.S. Yeddyurappa said that Eshwarappa had made notable contribution to the party and the resolution passed by him (KSE) was most appropriate.
