Hunsur: Suspecting the character of his wife, a drunk husband has allegedly killed his wife at Bijapur Dongri Gerasia Colony near B.R. Kaval, Hanagod hobli in the taluk on Saturday night.
While the deceased is Manjula (30), the accused husband has been identified as Suresh. The couple has three children.
Suresh used to reportedly come home drunk every day and quarrel with Manjula. On Saturday night too, Suresh picked up a fight with Manjula and in a fit of anger, took a knife and struck on the head of his wife. Manjula, who collapsed on the ground, died of severe bleeding and Suresh told the village elders that Manjula suffered giddiness, fell down and died.
Suresh’s uncle Manjunath, who saw Manjula’s injury, suspected that Manjula was murdered and informed the Police. As soon as Suresh came to know that his uncle had informed the Police, he immediately fled from the spot and went absconding.
Dy.SP Bhaskar Rai, Circle Inspector Shivakumar, SI Shivaprakash and staff visited the spot, conducted inspection, registered a case and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary in Mysuru for post-mortem.
A team has been formed to nab the accused, who is absconding, according to the Police.
