Mysore/Mysuru: Asserting that Right To Information (RTI) Act is enacted to ensure transparency and to know the state of affairs in matters of public interest, State Convener of Dalita Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) Devagalli Somashekar has said that, unfortunately the same RTI is being misused by some vested interests, to amass wealth.
Addressing the presspersons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here recently, Somashekar said, “The assets of RTI activists T.J. Abraham, Snehamayi Krishna and Gangaraju, who have lodged complaints against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging the Governor to prosecute him in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam must be probed.”
“The Governor has abruptly given his consent to prosecute CM Siddaramaiah on the basis of complaints lodged by RTI activists, even though the CM has no role in the MUDA scam,” he said.
Governor should be called back immediately
“The permission given by the Governor to prosecute CM amounts to gross injustice to the Constitution and social justice apart from resorting to oppressive tactics by the Central Government. The Governor, instead of functioning as a Constitutional Head is acting as a puppet of BJP leaders. He has no moral right to continue in his office and he should be called back immediately,” urged the DSS leader.
District DSS office-bearers Shadanahalli Narayana, Kantaraju Arjunahalli, Prasanna Talur and Belavatha Ramachandra were present.
