e-Khata mandatory for property registration

Empty chairs inside, people wait outside: This was the scene at the Sub-Registrar’s Office in Mini Vidhana Soudha, Nazarbad, this morning following a technical snag in Kaveri 2.0 online service portal. Similar was the scene at other Sub-Registrar Offices across the city.

Mysuru: Henceforth e-khata will be mandatory for the process of registration of properties in 18 districts of the State including Mysuru, stated an order issued by A.G. Veena, Under Secretary, Revenue Department (Registration and Stamps).

The new order will come into effect from Oct. 7 in Mysuru, Bengaluru Rural, Udupi, Karwar, Mangaluru, Dharwad, Vijayapura, Vijayanagar, Kodagu, Mandya, Ramanagara, Yadgir, Tumakuru, Shivamogga, Kolar, Kalaburagi, Gadag and Belagavi districts.

The registration of properties in urban areas must be done through e-Swathu software. Any violation of new rules, would invite action against the officials and staff concerned, said orders.

e-Khatas has been made mandatory to prevent illegal and fraudulent deals in the  registration of properties. In urban areas, properties are being registered with e-Aasthi as part of a pilot project. The e-Khatas can be registered online and downloaded exclusively for properties in urban areas, including Bengaluru city.
