The E-learning Lab, a three-week programme to train non-professional cadres to have knowledge of EDUSAT/INSAT 4CR Satellite through distance learning, was launched at JSS University here recently. Speaking after launching the programme, JSS University Vice-Chancellor Dr. B. Suresh said that the ISRO-IIRS (Indian Institute of Remote Sensing) approved the E-learning Centre at the University’s Faculty of Life Sciences for its 19th E-learning Programme (3 weeks) which concludes on Mar.10, 2017.
Post-Graduate students, Research scholars and faculty from different disciplines have registered for the programme, which is aimed at empowering human resource in the field of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
Highlighting the importance of GIS in the fields of National Resource Management, Environment and Disaster Management, he said that such outreach programmes was much needed for policy makers.
Dr. Kushalappa, Director (Academics), JSS University, programme Co-ordinator Dr. S. Balasubramaniam Prof. K. Nagesha, Head, Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof. Chandrashekarappa, Chairman and others were present.
