Mysore/Mysuru: e-Shram cards were distributed to unorganised workers of the construction industry such as Painters, Carpenters, Bar Benders, Masons, Electricians, Plumbers etc., at a programme organised under the aegis of BJP Unorganised Workers Cell at Jeevadhara Janaseva Kendra on New Sayyaji Rao Road here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Hindu Jagaran Vedike office-bearer Lohit Urs said that the life of unorganised workers is secured with job security and appropriate wages. Maintaining that the unorganised sector is one of the foundations of our economy, he said that according to an estimate, there are 38 crore unorganised workers and construction and allied fields workers form a major chunk of them. Stressing on the need for bringing the unorganised workers from different sectors under one platform, he said that the e-Shram card will largely help the workers in getting due Government benefits.
Pointing out that the Union Government has introduced a Rs.2 lakh accident insurance cover to all those who have registered under e-Shram Yojana, he called upon unorganised workforce to avail the facility.
Jeevadhara Blood Bank Centre Director Girish said that the Union Government has introduced pension scheme for unorganised workers, which they should make use of. He further said that there are many Seva Kendras which give information on various social security schemes. The workforce should get to know of them and utilise them in the best possible way.
